So. Blogging isn't anything really new to me (I've got an account over at LJ), but here, it's probably gonna be a bit different. See, I use LJ to let off steam occasionally, but mostly to post my writing and see stories other people have written. I enjoy writing. It's something that's an outlet for me that I find to be truly relaxing and rewarding. As I'm sure my family can attest, I'm one of the biggest bibliophiles out there, but besides loving books, I also love the written word. It's kind of hard for me to explain.
I never used to like writing until I hit eighth grade or so. Then I discovered the often... Hmm. I suppose the phrase "cracked out" would work the best... world of fanfiction. Now, fanfiction's basically where fans of a particular literary or visual media (mainly books and TV shows, though there are those who do write about manga and comics)write stories using either the original characters in that particular universe or characters that they've made up and inserted into said universe. Harry Potter's one of the biggest fandoms out there, and most people start out writing fanfic in that 'Verse.
I was no different.
Looking back at my first fanfics (when I have the nerve to, anyways), I can see that I was the typical newbie fanficcer: horrible plots, Godawful characterization, and other various travesties on the English language. I've grown as a writer (or at least, I hope I have), and have found my niche in the fanfic community. I'm not a popular writer, by any stretch of the imagination, but I do enjoy hearing the feedback people are willing to leave for my stories. It's nice to know someone else is enjoying the often odd ideas I come up with.
There're a few communities on LJ that I post to, the most frequent one being SGA_flashfic, which is a community that provides prompt challenges for stories set in the Stargate Atlantis fandom. The stories that come out of that community- God, some of them are just gorgeous. I may or may not say which LJ account is mine; I'm already embarrassed enough that my uncle (honorary; all my relatives live on the East Coast/in the Midwest) reads the 'fic I've got posted over at my account on Fanfiction.net. It's one thing when you get reviews from people you've never met, but when it's family...
Well, that's a whole 'nother ball game.
*Sigh* Alright. I guess I can suck it up and tell you which LJ account is mine. It's not like I can't lock the posts I'm too neurotic to let the whole world see. I'm Scarlet_Gryphon. There; ya happy now?
Hmmph. I'm goin' to bed. Or at least, I'm gonna log off this site. One of the two.
'Night, all. I may actually remember to update this thing once in a while. We'll see.
